VLADIVOSTOK http://www.cheapmlbtwinsjerseys.com/kirby-puckett/ , Sept. 23 (Xinhua) -- More than 150 Chinese cyclists on Wednesday competed in the international cycle race on the Far Eastern Russian island of Vladivostok.

The event was held on the Russian territory for the first time within the framework of the annual cycling festival "Vatternrundan China" at the Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture in China.

About 200 amateur athletes from China, Russia and Colombia featured in the 27-kilometer route around the island, dedicated to the 70th anniversary of Victory in World War II and to the Day of Peace in the Pacific Ocean.

Tatiana Litskevich, the deputy of the director of tour center "Berkut" - the Russian organizer of the event, told Xinhua that "The majority of the cycle race participants visited Vladivostok for the first time http://www.cheapmlbtwinsjerseys.com/ , so they didn't struggle to come first. Many participants have been stopping to enjoy the landscape and to take the pictures."

Cycle race's organizers from China were the cycling enthusiasts' club from Changchun and the tourist agency "Far East", the Russian organizer was the tour center "Berkut" with the support of the Vladivostok's Administration and Federation of Cycling in Primorsky Kray.

SANTIAGO, Oct. 30 (Xinhua) -- China will become the leading destination for exports from Latin America and the Caribbean in 2017, with growth of 23 percent this year, according to a new report by the UN Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC).

ECLAC's executive secretary http://www.cheapmlbtwinsjerseys.com/fernando-rodney/ , Alicia Barcena, unveiled the annual report on the region's trade on Monday in Santiago and said that exports would bounce back by 10 percent in 2017, after five years of slowdown.

"I think there have been many important steps between China and Latin America and the Caribbean. Now, the most important (objective) is to diversify the basket of exports so Chinese companies invest in our region," Barcena told Xinhua during a press conference.

According to Barcena http://www.cheapmlbtwinsjerseys.com/ervin-santana/ , future increases can be seen between China and Latin America by adding value to agricultural goods, which are in high demand.

"Foodstuffs are very important to China and what better than to produce them here, where agriculture must be a sector large enough to continuously be worked on," she said.

Barcena also referred to technology, a sector which is booming in China http://www.cheapmlbtwinsjerseys.com/phil-hughes/ , and called on countries to seek mutual benefits.

"China has made great advances in this direction recently. Our task must be to seek cooperation plans in this area. We must take advantage of 'The Belt & Road Initiative,' which must first connect Asia to Europe and then expand to us. We must continue with positive plans, such as the (undersea) cable that will unite China and Chile," she indicated.

ECLAC pointed out that exports of Latin America and the Caribbean have increased all around the world, rising 17 percent to Asia and 9 percent to the U.S. However http://www.cheapmlbtwinsjerseys.com/addison-reed/ , the region's trade with Europe is not performing as well, only growing by 6 percent.

Another positive mark is that imports also stopped a four-year fall and are set to rise by 7 percent in 2017, a good sign at a time of economic and geopolitical uncertainty, said the report.

While concerns that renowned Chinese director Zhang Yimou's new film The Great Wall was whitewashing its cast has became a huge topic of discussion on social media in the US, film lovers in China seem to be less interested in weighing in on the discussion.

The film became a much-discussed topic on Twitter after US actor Matt Damon responded to accusations that his leading role in the China-Hollywood co-produced action blockbuster was whitewashing in an interview with the Associated Press on Tuesday.

Damon http://www.cheapmlbtwinsjerseys.com/michael-pineda/ , well-known by Chinese audiences for his Bourne series, told AP that his participation in the film did not replace any Asian actors, as his role in the movie was planned from the very beginning.

All quiet in China

Currently, discussion about the film in China has focused more on the Chinese cast, which includes young stars Wang Junkai and Lu Han http://www.cheapmlbtwinsjerseys.com/zach-duke/ , than any controversy about race.

Judging from the hundreds of comments on a Sina Weibo post by the Global Times featuring a video of the AP interview, some don't even know what "whitewashing" is.

"What bad thing did he do that he needs to whitewash it?" a Weibo user called Little G Is Not Busy commented, clearly thinking of the more common meaning of whitewash - "a deliberate concealment of someone's mistakes or faults in order to clear their name."

Chinese filmgoers' innocence about whitewashing and other race issues in film is not uncommon, according to Chen Changye, editor-in-chief of film blog Yiyuguancha.

"The US film industry is more concerned about such issues because they were one of the earliest to launch affirmative action and due to the country's strong diversity http://www.cheapmlbtwinsjerseys.com/kennys-vargas/ ," Chen told the Global Times in an interview on Thursday.

Good business

Some suspect that the debate in the US is actually part of the film's promotional strategy - a way to get people talking about the film before its official release next week in China.

"To me, it seems they are just trying to stir up social media and create discussion. They just had a press conference in China for the film a day ago," a moviegoer surnamed Li told the Global Times on Wednesday.

A co-produced blockbuster boasting a $150 million budget, The Great Wall takes the familiar Hollywood monster movie and sets it in ancient China - a clear attempt to woe Chinese and US moviegoers.

Chen pointed out that the choice of Damon reflects China Film Group, LeVision Pictures and Universal Pictures' strategy to capture attention and spark discussion on social media platforms in both countries.
